A foot and mouth disease outbreak have been detected in the Limpopo province, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced.
The SAT 3 strain of the foot and mouth disease was detected in cattle from the Matiane community, in Thulamela municipality of the Vhembe District.
The outbreak occurred within the country’s foot and mouth disease protection zone. The outbreak will not have an effect South Africa’s FMD-free zone status. According to a department statement, it will not impact the country’s export activities.
