The 2015 symposium of the Animal Feed Manufacturers Association (Afma) in Pretoria emphasised the importance of technological innovation and cutting-edge research within the animal feed manufacturing industry.
The event attracted local experts, as well as experts from Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Presentation topics revolved around optimising feed’s nutritional value and bettering formulations for improved animal health and farm profits, including discussions on the benefit of feed adjustments in the poultry industry and amino acids for dairy cows.
Technological advances in Near Infrared (NIR) for the feed industry were also a key topic of discussion due to their ability to provide access to more complex analyses of feed ingredients.
