In a recent statement, Agri SA thanked all the donors who contributed to the Agri SA Drought Fund. Donations to the value of R16 million were received, of which R15 500 001 was made available to those provinces worst affected by the drought.
Provinces were assisted as follows:
– North West: R3 639 474
– Free State: R3 439 474
– Limpopo: R407 895
– KwaZulu-Natal: R505 263
– Western Cape: R2 500 000
– Gauteng: R450 000
– Northern Cape: R3 668 421
– Eastern Cape: R889 474
Provinces such as Limpopo and Mpumalanga are now also adversely affected by the drought and Agri SA is in the process of assisting these provinces with additional funds.
Agri also wishes to thank provincial managers, office staff and local farming associations that assisted with the distribution of feed and other forms of humanitarian aid to farming and farm worker communities.
